First, I work online (publishing this article is working online).

Second, since you are reading this, then you probably are interested in how one makes money online or are trying to find a way to make yourself some extra cash.

And that leads me to point number three: there is only one online money making market that I have found that truly works, and maybe a handful or less of others that hardly make enough to look at twice. That market is freelance writing.

Making money online is very hard, and it isn't for everyone. If you don't have a lot of time to spend online, I don't suggest you even try it. That said, let me say that the only online way to make money that I have found that pays anything equivalent to the amount of time I put into it is freelance and article writing. Otherwise, I say forget it, unless you want to actually pay money out of your own pocket, buy a bunch of crap, or make pennies on the hour posting or clicking on ads (as if that could even be entertaining).

Other than freelance writing, SideTick is one of the few things that I use to make money online. I get on, read the stupid email they send me, go to the blog by the creator, read it, and post a comment, and make between fifty cents to a dollar every day. Is that a lot? Not at all, by most people's standards, but on the web, that is a considerable amount for the work I do. Does it pay the bills? Absolutely not. But it does add a little extra pocket cash.

There are a few others that are okay if you have a few spare moments and want a few spare pennies, such as BeRuby.com (see here), myLot if you like participating in forum discussions (I can make maybe fifty cents a day on that one if I try really hard, but it's hardly worth the time when I could spend that same amount of time writing articles and actually making legitimate money) - and well, that's it. That's all I can think of that doesn't involve a bunch of ads or surveys or paying money to get scammed.

Those aside, I still stand by freelance writing to make money online. There are quite a few handfuls of places to submit articles and job postings to compete for if you want to go that route, though there are only a few that I like to write for or feel are worth the time.

Personally, I think that any article site that only gives you page view money isn't worth the time. I've been writing for Associated Content for six months and have over fifty published articles, and I still make $3.00 in page views alone during a good month. If I didn't make upfront payments, I wouldn't make any money on AC.

There are other ways to make money online, but nothing is as legitimate or fun or worth my time as freelance writing is when it comes to online money making. And believe me, I've tried anything from PTC to social networking to anything in between.
